Here’s my page about Back Home. I’m not sure if that is just an old country boy phase, but I’ve said it a million times since I left my hometown in 1972. Home is the little community of Elamsville in Stuart Virginia, part of Patrick County.  Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with the Blue Ridge Parkway running thru it. It’s what I call “Real America”...here’s some casual shots from Back Home!!

Then you drive Downtown. You don’t have to start the motor, just let off the brakes and hold on for dear life.

Patrick County has got a lot of attractions that bring people from all over the United States to visit our little corner of the earth. Just a few miles away is the Blue Ridge Parkway, we have Mabry Mill, one of the most photographed places in America. Five miles from home we also have Fairystone State Park, home of one of the natural wonders of the world. I worked there in the summer during high school. We have two of the 8 Covered Bridges in Virginia. We even have a winery. In Stuart, some nice folks renovated the historic Star Theater and our state bird is the Cardinal.

And we got NASCAR. The world famous Wood Brothers No. 21 has put Stuart Virginia on the map for true racing fans. My mama went to the school with all the original brothers and I went to school with the sons of Glenn. My baby brother, Jay, has made a living building and driving race cars.

We got a far share of war veterans from the Civil War to Iraq. One in particular is my third cousin CPL Jonathan Bowling USMC, who died in Iraq on 25 January 2005.
