ELLY AND SAM

Elly was sitting by a fresh grave, tears running down her face
With a pain in her heart and a pistol in her lap
Sam says, I know just how you feel, and I’ve sat right there too
Thinking you don’t want to live, or live without ‘em

My reasons might be different that yours, but here I am
I don’t really have anyone left in this world, but you do
Then Sam sat down beside her, says let me tell you a secret
I’ll tell you why I’m still, kicking around today

CHORUS
A medicine man once told me, a long time ago
When you love somebody, you trade a part of your soul
They get a piece of you and you get a piece of them
And when their love dies, a piece of you die with ‘em
That’s why it hurts so   bad

TURNAROUND  verse

But that little piece of him is still inside you
And he can use your eyes to see the world
That’s why I’m heading to the ocean, got my wife inside of me
And I’m gonna sit down in the sand and let her see it
That was her dream
I’m heading to the ocean, I’m gonna see her,(hold) that’s my dream
