I bet you’ve got it all figured out,
Said the old man, sitting at the end of bar
Buy us a round and I’ll tell you the secrets of life
You know anything about baseball

This guy didn’t know me from Adam,
but his offer caught my ear
So I moved over and sat down beside him
He ordered Whiskey and a couple beers
And he said

Other times, it will shatter your nerves
That’s why you got to learn
to hit the curve

When I was your age, I had it all planned out
Until the policeman brought me the news

To find her daddy down on his knees

Every day goes by I miss my wife
