They never gave a damn about us, getting paid by the hour

Now a lots of folks and a lot jobs, don't get a living wage
It seems like part time work, is the only work these days
No health insurance, no vacation plan and no upward mobilty
Just shut your mouth, best not complain, you're in the land of the free

Betty Lou Rainey is my ex-sister in law and she was oh so sweet
Sowed labels on sweatshirts a thousand a day, she got paid by the piece
Worked her fingers to the bone, while my brother sat in his ivory tower
He never had to get a REAL job getting paid by the hour

For the last 3 weeks I'm stuck in the house, and I can't go to work
So, the wife dusted off that Honey Do List, she's gonna make it hurt
I fixed the gate, painted the shed, and even planted her a flower
Each little job took twice as long, like I'm paid by the hour
