THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

American Dream (Jan 2003)  A funny song, written about all things that qualify as living the American Dream.  THINGS TO KNOW:  When all those US companies that cry “BUY AMERICAN” and move their operation to a foreign country, but still label the product as “American Made”, that’s bullshit.  I bet the CEO and upper management ain’t driving Fords and Chevy’s

Baby Put Me On The Wagon (Aug 2013):
Written to have an instrumental on an album, but it never saw the light of day.  Things to know: It still would not otherwise!!

Blues For Christmas (Dec 2000)
I used to do a Kid’s program at Christmas at the Kindgarter/Child Care Center where my daughter worked.  THINGS TO KNOW:  I used to really look forward to playing songs to 4 year olds!!

Count The Ways (June 1997)  I took on the task of writing a song for a guy birthday..NOT a good idea.  I wrote two songs in the process.  Just a few days before the guy’s birthday, I finally figured a hook and then it was written in an hour!  THINGS TO KNOW:  I have played this song ONCE live!!

Monkey on a Stool (Nov 2011)
I play a club where in the course of a four hour gig, I get ZERO Applause.  I’m just the Monkey on A Stool.  THINGS TO KNOW:  I still play there to ZERO applause and I sing this song every night!

My Little Girl (Aug 2005) A song written to order for a fan’s daughter’s 18th birthday.  I got more details than with “Count The Ways”.  THINGS TO KNOW:  I’ve never played this to anyone, so you’re one of the few that’s ever heard it!!

Perfect Hair and Size 32 Jeans (Apr 2001)
A fellow American singer was complaining about the music business and how he didn’t have “Perfect Hair and Size 32 Jeans”.  I took his complaint and made a song!  THINGS TO KNOW:  That American singer didn’t have the goods either!!

Pink Pancakes (May  2011)  Written for my granddaughters (4 & 1) , as I was cooking them pancakes when we visited in 2011.  THINGS TO KNOW:  Took me a few years to write down and record it as “written song”.

Queen Of The Castle (Jan 2010)
My nephew posted a lot of the song on Facebook one day complaining about his cat!!  THINGS TO KNOW:  That’s what songwriters do, even it’s a stupid song about a cat!

Taylor Aint So Swift Apr 2010)  I am delighted with Taylor Swift’s success as Pop Star.  But she was NEVER Country and I despised the attention she was getting!!
THINGS TO DO:  My demo had my granddaughter speakings on the Answering Machine saying “Oma, I got Potty” when was getting Potty Trained

Walmart Girls (Nov 2014)
Duet with my fellow American Singer/Songwriter Daniel T. Coates.  This song is parody of my song Pretty Girls.  THINGS TO KNOW:  I made a picture video for You Tube and it has more hits than all my other songs combined.

Wear A Burka (Jul 2012)
A tongue in cheek response to women complaining about men’s starring at their body parts.  THINGS TO KNOW:  Will never be released to radio!!!
