LADY AT THE BAR

In a quiet little bar, north of San Antone She drank her whiskey straight, as she sat there all alone She didn't talk to nobody, except Billy, behind the bar He barely knew her name, it hadn't gone that far
I watched her from the stage, from 9 to 1 am Every Friday night, always the same routine Billy made sure the guys, all let her be Those who got out of line, would soon be on the street
The Lady at the bar, drinking her Green Label Numbing her emotions, trying to be strong & stable I tried to find a song, somehow touch her heart It's sad to see a Lady, whose world was falling apart
Billy's told me late one night, she spoke about her man He was never home, she just couldn't understand She knew there was old lover, something he denied She was drinking her courage to leave, she was tired of his lies
Couple months later, much to my surprise The old boss was behind the bar, anger in his eyes Billy and the money, were nowhere to be found Rumor was that Billy and the Lady had skipped town
The Lady at the bar, drinking her Green Label Numbing her emotions, trying to be strong & stable Maybe she heard a song that could mend her broken heart And her life with Billy, she'll have a fresh new start
